The Missionary Childhood in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries is working against the clock to guarantee that 2,000 children can gather locally to celebrate their faith in Christ.

As millions of Catholics from all over the world pilgrimage to Rome to take part in the various activities for the Jubilee Year of Hope, the Missionary Childhood in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries where one in two children don’t always get one meal a day, is working against the clock to guarantee that 2,000 children can gather locally to celebrate their faith in Christ.

The Children’s Congress, set to take part July 30 to August 5th is not just a gathering; it’s a beacon of hope and a testament to the vibrant faith of Malawi’s youth. Organized to align with the Jubilee Year for youth in the Eternal City, this congress will offer a unique opportunity for the children who take part in the weekly activities their and connect with peers from different dioceses.

The Congress will be held under the theme: “Children Missionaries of Hope,” and the motto for the congress is “Children praying for and helping fellow children.”

Father Ephraim Peter Madeya, the National Director of TPMS in Malawi, shared his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its significance in the spiritual development of the children and the broader church community. “This congress is not only about bringing our children together but is a crucial step in nurturing their spiritual and moral values,” explained Father Madeya.

The children in Malawi need our help as they continue to grow in their faith, prepare to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope locally.

In anticipation of this pivotal event, Father Madeya reflected on our weekly podcast, Frontiers of Faith, on the potential impact: “This congress is a beacon of hope for our children, offering them a chance to meet, share, and deepen their faith together. It’s an initiative that goes beyond mere gathering; it instills a robust spiritual foundation in our youth, empowering them to face the challenges of tomorrow with faith and courage.”

“We are deeply committed to nurturing these young minds,” Father Madeya said. “The congress will enable our children to interact and share their diverse experiences, which is vital for building a resilient faith community.’ His enthusiasm is a call to action for all of us to support these efforts, ensuring that the voice of the youth is not only heard but celebrated.”

The entire budget for the congress is $200,000, most of which is being raised locally. However, seeing that 70 percent of the population lives with less than $2,15 a day, organizers have reached out to us for a little push to ensure they can meet their goal. This estimate will cover the meals, the liturgy, the accommodation, transport, security and safeguarding, as well as the entertainment.

Amidst preparing for this grand event, Malawi faces significant challenges, such as recovering from natural disasters and economic hardships that impact local families. Your support can lighten this burden and ensure that the congress becomes a cornerstone of hope and joy for the children of Malawi.

How to Support: Support the Children’s Congress by praying for this beautiful event, and if you can, by making a donation: Every cent counts, as it will directly contribute to the logistical needs of this event, ensuring that thousands of children in one of the world’s poorest countries can join in the spiritual celebration that is the Jubilee Year of Hope.
